What if my trip doesn't appear in the list?

If you receive a notification saying the trip has started, the trip is saved locally on the phone but is yet to be analysed. It’s normal if there is no mobile service at the end of the trip. When this happens, the analysis is postponed until the phone reconnects to a network and it can automatically be carried out.

If you don’t receive a notification that the trip has started, then automatic detection is not activated. In this case, check the documentation (see doc) to check the settings in your phone are correct and that battery optimisation is disabled for the application.

What happens if the phone loses the GPS signal on a trip?

 If the GPS signal cuts out, the app can no longer measure the speed of your vehicle. The trip can’t be analysed.

If the signal is not restored within four minutes of being lost, trip recording stops automatically. Only the part of the route where the GPS signal was active will be analysed.

How is my CO2 footprint calculated in the application?
The emitted CO₂ is calculated for each trip. Moovance takes into account:
  • the chosen mean of transportation
  • for cars, the characteristics of the registered car
  • the number of passengers
The used emission figures are taken from the latest database from Ademe, available here (FR): https://data.ademe.fr/datasets/base-carboner
As indicated by Ademe, and aligned with French ministry of ecology, the data for planes do not take into account  the radiative forcing (the contrails).

How is my CO2 footprint calculated when there are several of us in the car?

Just indicate the number of passengers when you validate your trip. The carbon estimate is lower if there are two or more passengers.

Is it possible to use the app with different cars?

When you register, you are asked to enter your main car. That’s the car used to estimate your CO2 emissions and driving scores.

But you can add other cars in your garage. However, you need to select them for the trips during which they were used in order to calculate their specific carbon emissions.

How do I add/remove a car in the app?

To add a car, simply go to “Settings > My Garage” and click on the “Add a vehicle” button below. Select the vehicle type and enter the registration number to find the exact model.

To delete a car, go to “Settings > My garage” and drag the vehicle you wish to delete to the left. Click on the red icon that pops up to delete the vehicle.

However, you can’t change an existing vehicle.

What do I do when my registration number is not recognised or the wrong model shows up?

The license plate allows the app to recognise your vehicle type so it can estimate your carbon footprint as accurately as possible.

If the system doesn’t detect the right vehicle type when you enter your registration number, your carbon footprint will be estimated using the characteristics of a “standard” vehicle. If the system doesn’t recognise the right car type when you enter your registration number, click “Skip this step.”

I want to delete my account. What should I do?

 You can delete your account and the last saved data directly in the application (Settings page).

If the app doesn’t detect any completed trips for two months, we may delete your inactive account. (SEE TCU)

How do I disable battery optimisation on my smartphone?
For the application to work properly, we recommend that battery optimisation be disabled. This ensures trip detection is optimal when the application is running in the background. This is particularly essential for certain Android smartphone manufacturers such as Asus, Huawei, Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi. Battery optimisation on these models is very restrictive, which may mean that the app will be dormant. See below for help with settings by Android manufacturers and versions to ensure an optimal Moovance experience:
